Our Japanese language courses are tailored to busy adults of all skill levels

SPRING 2026 Course Schedule

All classes are designed for adults, age 19 and up and are offered EITHER as in-person attendance OR online attendance (Except Level 1 Evenings at Kerrisdale Community Centre). The number of in-person attendees will be limited to four for each class. The number of online attendees will be limited to eight.

In-person classes will be held at my home, which is located in the Kerrisdale area of Vancouver.

Level 1 (Morning, in-person, 2 spots left)

An introductory course for beginners. Students will learn how to introduce themselves and ask more detailed questions. They will learn basic structure and vocabulary to have social conversations.

Hiragana will be introduced.

Level 2 (in-person, 1 spot left)

An elementary conversation course. Students will learn basic expressions and structures to be able to express their ideas about familiar matters; family, work, and school. Use of adjectives is the main grammar point. Conversations that are useful when travelling in Japan will be practiced. 

Katakana will be taught.

Prerequisites: Japanese Level 1, or equivalent.

Level 2.5

The latter part of the Level 2 textbook. This includes the verb group concept, conjugating dictionary forms to polite form, connective form and plain negative form. 

Textbook no longer uses romaji.

Prerequisites: Japanese Level 2, or equivalent.

Level 3 (in-person, 1 spot left)

An elementary conversation course. Developing the base of grammatical comprehension to form a variety of structures.

It is the initial preparation for JLPT. 

Prerequisites: Japanese Level 2.5, or equivalent.

April 27 – June 22, 2026

Level 3.5 (In-person, full. online, 2 spots left)

The latter part of Level 3 textbook. Students will learn how to express their opinions, focusing on practical communication with solid grammatical comprehension. They will speak casually, politely. 

Prerequisites: Japanese Level 3, or equivalent.
